This is the first treatment that is normally offered to couples that present a slight ovaric disfunction, slight endometriosis, or that do not show an apparent cause for infertility. It consists in administering gonadotropins subcutaneously, to stimulate follicular growth in the ovary. Through ultrasound scan monitoring the development of the follicular growth is followed. When the follicules are mature a medication that produces ovulation is administered. Ovulation happens 36 hours after taking the medication, and planned coitus takes place. This procedure can be repeated up to 3 to 4 times.
