An integral approach to fertility
As a physician specialized in reproductive medicine, and through sharing many couples’ experiences in trying to conceive, I have learned it is essential to approach infertility from many different angles to ensure that all aspects of this complex problem are settled. Apart from any physical problem that couples who are unable to conceive might have, they will have to overcome the frustration and other negative emotions everyone experiences when the powerful wish to form a family is thwarted.
It is very important for me to establish emotional rapport with my patients, because only through mutual trust can we work together to plan the best route to pregnancy. The wide range of treatments available in reproductive medicine can be more or less complex, and they may have to be repeated. All involve physical, psychological, and financial efforts, but the good news is that they will enable 90% of couples to become parents.
